Dependent Origination | Dependent Arising

Lord Buddha revealed the reality – born to this world is a great suffer. There is no liberation around existence and birth. Look! If we obtain 100% understand that these five aggregates (form, sensation, perception, mental formations, Consciousness) do not have any soul that is the moment of liberation. Four parts of liberation are to be achieved gradually for four times, respectively one after the other. Actually what is the world that we live in? How we measure and judge the happenings in this world? The thing called the world, we get to know by the five elements of our body - namely; eye, ear, nose, tongue and body. For an instant, we get to know about a flower involving the eye and mind in a process, then we get a picture of it and we see it. Same way to anything around. Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching and feeling. So the world around us due to the five elements in our body and if the elements do not exist there is no world for us. As per Lord Buddha, this process is according to a law, which occurs and repeat in a circular manner. It is the Circle of name-form and consciousness. Name means feeling, perception, intention, contact (ex: eye + visual + consciousness) and attention. Those have a contact with brain. Form means; visuals, sounds, smells, tastes, touches and thoughts. This is the process of world which is pictured in our mind. Whatever we experience is a combination of above elements which conjure in our mind. Reality is we cannot experience outer world, but everything is formed in our mind.

Name-Form and consciousness have an indiscernible relationship. One visual by visual, one sound by sound consciousness arises and ceases and this takes only inconsiderable moment – minimal time. As an example; you touch a hot glass and that touch is the form, then an unpleasant feeling comes, then perception comes as ‘my hand is burning’, then intention comes to get out your hand out of it, there has the contact, and you have attention to an element in your body. Now become a body consciousness. This is the role play of our six sense bases! Six types of consciousness’s - eye consciousness, ear consciousness etc. with mind consciousness arise and cease time to time. Every moment consciousness arises and ceases according to name-form. As this process is continuously connected with eye, ear,... , mind, we experience the existence of the world.  People wrap with a delusion that they have souls, in the same way!

Everything is interconnected to each other. Thus- This being - this comes to be. With the arising of this - this arises. This not being - this does not come to be. With the cessation of this - this ceases. And that is to say, dependent on ignorance, preparations( mental formations) come to be; dependent on preparations, consciousness; dependent on consciousness, name-and-form; dependent on name-and-form, the six sense-bases; dependent on the six sense-bases, contact; dependent on contact, feeling; dependent on feeling, craving; dependent on craving, clinging; dependent on clinging, existence/becoming; dependent on existence/becoming, birth; dependent on birth, decay-and-death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, grief and despair come to be. Thus is the arising of this entire mass of suffering. But with the complete fading away and cessation of ignorance, comes the cessation of preparations; with the cessation of preparations, the cessation of consciousness; with the cessation of consciousness, the cessation of name-and-form; with the cessation of name-and-form, the cessation of the six sense-bases; with the cessation of the six sense-bases, the cessation of contact; with the cessation of contact, the cessation of feeling; with the cessation of feeling, the cessation of craving; with the cessation of craving, the cessation of clinging; with the cessation of clinging, the cessation of existence/becoming; with the cessation of existence/becoming, the cessation of birth; with the cessation of birth, the cessation of decay-and-death, sorrow, weeping, pain, grief and despair cease to be. Thus is the end of this entire mass of suffering. Try to understand this path and it shows the essence of Buddhism. Following is a diagram which shows the same.

Lord Buddha’s main and initial discovery is understanding the four noble truths - the suffering, the reason for the suffering, the cessation of suffering, the way to cease the suffering. The path to cease the suffer is elaborates as ‘noble eightfold path’, namely; right vision, right thoughts (eliminate desire, hate and hurt), right words (be away from lies, bad words, guff and slander), right works (be away from killing beings[animals and human], steal, sexual misconduct and ingesting alcohol and drugs), right livelihood (be away from selling alcohol and drugs, human-animals selling, meat selling, weapons selling etc.), right effort (be away from unmerits-thoughts, generate merits-thoughts), right mindfulness(encourages the awareness of the impermanence of body, feeling and mind, as well as to experience the five aggregates), right concentration(practicing four stages of perfect equanimity and awareness called ‘’ Jhayana’. With achieving this, we can do miracle things, watch past life’s, watch and here incidence in far from here like earth or heavens and hells, read others mind).
